Does Fat Loss Release Toxins?

It’s not just about how cute your butt looks in your jeans…

Obesity is officially a major epidemic in the United States and other developed countries around the world.  In America, more than two-thirds of the adult population is overweight or obese.

Overweight:  body mass index (BMI) over 25

Obese:  body mass index (BMI) over 30

The effects of fat gain are well known but most aren’t aware of the positive effects of fat loss.

Globally, scientists have linked obesity to every serious disease both as a cause and a factor that worsens conditions you already have.  If you are overweight or obese, you have an overall higher risk of death from all causes.

Pretty depressing, right?

This isn’t about being body positive.   We love our (imperfect) bodies over here at Daily Superfood Love (and you should love yours, too).  This is about your health – taking preventable measures to stop disease in its’ tracks.

It’s about loving and caring for the only true home you’ll ever have to live in.

While your body requires healthy fats, those are not the kinds of fats the majority of people are getting.  The abundance and consumption of high sugar, hydrogenated oils, refined grains, and chemically laden processed foods makes it so much harder for your body to function properly.

A lot of food available on your supermarket shelf isn’t really food at all.  It offers your body nothing of value.  It provides no adequate fuel for the most basic systems inside you.

In fact, not only does it give you nothing, it can take away what little natural defenses your body produces on its’ own.

New Information about the Effects of Fat Loss

Before you rush out to get the latest and greatest weight loss surgery or put yourself on the latest fad diet, let’s talk about toxins.

Your fat cells are the sponge of your body.  They suck up all kinds of things floating around and it all gets stored for later use as energy (no matter what’s in those cells).

Organic contaminants from your food and environment found in your bloodstream build up in your fat cells.  When you lose a lot of weight – especially a lot of weight rapidly – the toxins inside those cells can get released back into your bloodstream.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) conducted a ten-year study called the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) to evaluate concentrations of six specific pollutants in more than 1000 participants.  International Journal of Obesity published the final results.

Pollutants in the blood were measured against bodyweight categories…

  • No change in bodyweight
  • Moderate increase in bodyweight
  • Moderate decrease in bodyweight
  • Drastic increase in bodyweight
  • Drastic decrease in bodyweight

Those who lost substantial amounts of weight over the decade showed as much as a 50% higher concentration of the pollutants measured.  Researchers confirmed that the effects of fat loss were consistent with the contaminate concentrations.

Over the last fifteen years, the bioaccumulation of common toxins in the cells of your body has become a major concern of scientists around the world.  Our exposure to organic pollutants, synthetic contaminants, and heavy metals is higher than ever before in history.

Even babies in the womb test positive for dangerous environmental contaminants and heavy metal toxicity.  Clearly, we’re inundated with these dangerous substances far more than we realize and at levels that are deadly.

Controlling bodyweight is critical to your health now and decades into your future.  However, detoxifying your body from the inside out (and preventing as much future exposure as possible) may prove to be an important first step to the process of getting fit.

Authors of the CDC study explained, “Pathogenesis of some health outcomes may be more affected by the change of adipose tissue mass, while pathogenesis of other health outcomes may be more affected by the change of serum concentrations of persistent organic pollutants.”

The chicken or the egg argument.

If you need to lose a substantial number of pounds (like I did), check out Vivid Living to find out how you can detoxify your mind, body, and spirit in ten minutes a day.  Simple steps that may help to help lower the negative fat loss effects and feel better than you’ve ever felt in your lifetime.  It’s time for you to live vividly!

And remember, the only good weight loss is healthy weight loss.  No fads, no gimmicks.  Eat clean whole foods, exercise daily, get plenty of sleep, drink lots of water, and lose the tobacco or other toxic habits.

I know you’ve got this…you need to know it, too!
